History

HISTORY OF THE PHI

Founded on March 22, 2017, and officially incorporated on April 17, 2017, Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. was born from the shared vision of three active duty and retired military men: Dr. Gary V. Ammons (Navy), Darrin Coney (Air Force), and Clifton Powell (Army). United by the principles of mission, brotherhood, and professionalism, these founders swore an oath to strengthen the veteran community, restore faith, and expand knowledge among veterans.

The pioneering members, known as the Hercules PHIrst Warriors, include Efferen Hernandez, Leander Holston Jr., Antonio Brown, Jason Williams, Marquette Jones, Timothy Hall, Lugene Johnson, Jeremiah Thompson, Murad Dixon, and Shawn Ollison. Their collective efforts established a foundation that continues to thrive and inspire.

Mu Beta Phi is a proud member of the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA) under military science, the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA), the Armed Forces Chamber of Commerce (AFCOC), and the Fraternity Communications Association (FCA).

ROYAL COURT GAMMA

The Royal Court Gamma of Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc. proudly began in Philadelphia, PA, famously called the City of Brotherly Love. Known as TriState because of the members’ area of residence during the founding, the nickname signifies their regional ties. Predominantly, the Philadelphia Chapter members lived in the Delaware Valley Region, encompassing eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware. This concentration of members in the Delaware Valley TriState Region forms the chapter’s core, with only a handful living outside this area.

The moniker “TriState Kings” emerged from the TriState concept, reflecting their connections to Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware. Most of the chapter’s Kings call Philadelphia home, so they selected the Liberty Bell as their emblem.
